Final Degree Project

The Final Degree Project (TFG) consists of students individually conducting a project in which there will be elements of research or innovative industrial application, representing an approach to professional practice. The project will be carried out under the supervision of a professor from within the degree, with the student joining a research team. With the same academic guarantees and always under the supervision of a professor from within the degree, the TFG may also be conducted at other institutions such as other national or foreign universities, public or private research centres, industries, or companies in the chemical or biotechnological sectors. The TFG culminates by drafting a report then presenting and defending it before a jury.

The Final Degree Project consists of three distinct parts:

1. The student carrying out individual work:

  • The work will be carried out, under the supervision of a professor from within the degree, as part of a research team at IQS itself or with other institutions or companies with which there is an agreement that includes this activity.
  • The work to be conducted must be previously defined as a project in which the subject to be studied, its relevance, the objectives established, and the methodology to be used are indicated in detail.
  • The work must include elements of research or innovation, thus literature review projects or routine applications of known procedures are not accepted.

2. Drafting a report on the work completed:

  • The work conducted shall be reflected in a written report that will be supervised by the same Final Degree Project professor/supervisor.
  • The format of the report is that of a typical scientific work.

3. Presentation and defence of the work before a jury appointed for this purpose:

  • Students shall present their work before a jury appointed by the Dean of the School. The duration of the presentation will be about 20 minutes, plus a period for questions and clarifications that the jury may require.
  • The jury typically consists of three professors from the degree, although a specialist from another university or within industry may also participate.

To start the TFG, students must have already passed 80% of the contents of the degree. To present the TFG, students must have passed all the other subjects in the degree.

Admissions process

Apply for admission

To apply for admission to one of our bachelor’s degrees, you must submit various documents to us so we can assess your application. Create an account and sign in here. You must save and remember your username and password as they will enable you to continue the process you have started.

Documentation to upload

  • Valid ID/Passport
  • Passport-style photograph in colour with a white background in jpg format (176×220 pixels).

Students from the Spanish educational system:

  • Grades from your 1st year secondary school baccalaureate studies and completed grades from your 2nd year.
  • PAU exam grades (if you already have the results).
  • If you are studying an Advanced Vocational Education Cycle (CFGS): your updated academic transcripts.
  • If you have started a degree at another university: academic transcripts.

Students from outside the Spanish educational system:

  • Grades from your last two academic years prior to accessing university.
  • Credential granting you access to the Spanish university system issued by UNEDasiss or favourable decision approving your previous studies prior to accessing university.

Admissions test:

You must select the date to take the admissions test when making your application, based on the established calendar.

Pre-registration payment

During the process, you must pay a €125 administration and processing fee for your application. Payment can be made online by credit or debit card. This amount will be refunded only in the event that a student is not admitted to the studies, notwithstanding the right of withdrawal under the legally established terms.*

The ONLINE admissions test is a psychometric test and also includes an English level test that you must take regardless of whether or not you have an official language certificate.

Admissions tests will be sent by email at 3:30 pm (Spanish time) on the date you have selected. The duration of the test is approximately three hours and you have 24 hours to take the test: from 3:30 pm on the day the test begins until 3:30 pm the following day.

The Admissions Committee will decide on your admission based on your studies, academic results, and the admissions test. The Admissions Committee will inform you on your admission by email within a maximum period of 15 days from the date you took the admissions test (not counting holiday periods such as Christmas and Easter).

A student’s admission is conditional upon meeting the academic requirements necessary for accessing bachelor’s degree studies.

The pre-enrolment payment is mandatory and is the step that must be taken before the enrolment period opens, during which time students must formalize their enrolment.

Once admitted, you have a period of two weeks to make your pre-enrolment payment on the online pre-enrolment platform by credit or debit card. Otherwise, it will understood that the student is not interested in continuing with the process and their pre-enrolment will be cancelled.

Pre-enrolment does not entail an additional cost as the sum will be deducted from the total tuition fees when payment is made. The payment is only refunded in the event that a student does not meet the requirements to access studies at IQS (not having passed the PAU exams, not passing studies prior to accessing university, or not having obtained their student visa), notwithstanding the right of withdrawal under the legally established terms.*

Pre-enrolment tuition fee for the Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology: €1,000

The enrolment period will open starting the last week of June. Pre-enrolment only ensures that a student can enrol in a bachelor’s degree up to 15 days after the opening of the enrolment period. Otherwise, it will be understood that the student is not interested in continuing with the process.

We will send an email with the credentials and instructions to proceed with your enrolment.

Scholarships and financial aid

IQS offers three different types of scholarships for undergraduate students. To apply for a scholarship, students must have pre-registered and have been admitted to one of our bachelor’s degree programmes. Apply for the scholarship that best suits your needs based on your situation and circumstances. Discounts are also available to students from a large family or who have a sibling studying at IQS.

IQS is committed to quality and has different processes in place to ensure continuous improvement through the IQS School of Engineering Quality Committee.

Since 1995, the IQS School of Engineering has featured a Quality Management Unit. Initially, the efforts were related to the Technical Services that IQS provides to industries, companies, and governmental entities.

Since 2000, many of its actions have been aimed at implementing a quality system in the field of teaching. The manual of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC) for the IQS School of Engineering within Ramon Llull University (URL) was presented to the AQU for evaluation in the 2009 AUDIT call and holds a favourable review as of 22 April 2010. The Quality Assessment Committee of AQU Catalunya met on 11 December 2012 and ratified the extension of the SGIC design to consider the addition of the IQS School of Management AUDIT programme. The Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology has passed the accreditation process of AQU Catalunya, in accordance with the Framework, for the verification, monitoring, modification, and accreditation of official university degrees (2010). Ramon Llull University (URL) and its centres already boast a long history of developing policies, strategies, and actions focused on guaranteeing the quality of their degrees, teaching activity, and research and management.
