Contaminant Analysis

Contaminant analysis services for different types of matrices. We offer analytical methods for the detection and quantification of pharmaceuticals, microplastics, cyanotoxins, dioxins and furans, PFAS, as well as environmental microbiology analysis (pathogenic microorganisms, bacteria and resistant genes, etc.).

At IQS we offer services for the analysis of contaminants in a wide range of matrices.

We have analytical methods for the detection and quantification of pharmaceuticals, microplastics, cyanotoxins, dioxins and furans, PFAS, as well as environmental microbiology analysis (pathogenic microorganisms, bacteria and resistant genes, etc.).

IQS operates an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory (since 2005) for the analysis of PCDD/F, PCBs, and PAHs in products for human and animal consumption, as well as in environmental matrices (atmospheric emissions and inmissions, vegetation, soils, water, etc.).

We work with a wide variety of companies and public administrations to address environmental challenges with scientific rigor, providing support through both research contracts and technical services.

BUSINESS SERVICES:

  • Analysis of dioxins, furans (PCDD/F), DL‑PCB, NDL‑PCB and PAHs. ENAC ISO/IEC 17025 accredited service.
  • Analysis of emerging contaminants in water: cyanotoxins and pharmaceuticals.
  • Analysis of persistent compounds in different matrices: pesticides, PFAS,..
  • Microplastics analysis in various matrices.
  • Environmental microbiology: Analysis of pathogenic microorganisms; detection of bacteria and resistance genes using molecular biology and qPCR; and respirometric, toxicity and biodegradability assays.

Environmental Laboratory

Laboratory specialised in the analysis of dioxins and other persistent organic pollutants in environmental matrices (atmospheric emissions and immissions, water, ash, waste, soil, etc.) as well as in products for human and animal food. Accredited by ENAC according to UNE EN ISO 17025.

IQS-JEOL NMR PLATFORM

IQS-JEOL NMR Platform laboratory, created in 2024, arises from the collaboration agreement signed between JEOL as a leading company in the manufacture of scientific equipment and IQS as a university center. The acquisition of two new generation NMR machines by IQS promotes university research into the study of the technique and its application in industrial environments such as the field of chemistry, biochemistry and the medical-pharmaceutical a reas. The collaboration between the two entities allows the interrelationship between JEOL experts and IQS teaching and research staff.

IQS-SCIEX Demo Lab

Laboratory arising from the collaboration between SCIEX and IQS to promote research in chemical analysis techniques based on high resolution mass spectrometry. This partnership makes the availability of powerful new generation equipment possible in a university environment where research promotes the study of the analytical techniques and their application in industrial environments such as chemistry, biopharma, biotechnology, and proteomics. The cooperation between both entities includes the joint work between SCIEX experts and IQS professors and researchers.

Chromatography Laboratory

Laboratory dedicated to the development and optimisation of analysis methods based on chromatographic techniques. Also dedicated to method validation, transfer and analysis of chemical products in general. It has consolidated experience in the chromatographic analysis of a wide range of matrices, from pharmaceuticals to environmental pollutants.
