IQS once again took part in celebrating Science Week in Catalonia, the 26th edition of which was held from 12 to 21 November. Within the framework of Science Week, IQS offered a series of conferences and activities aimed at the general public, especially at high school students, with the aim of promoting interest in science and showcasing it to young people.
More than 500 students from throughout Catalonia were able to attend this year's edition and take part in the activities that were held on site at the IQS campus. Schools from all over were able to come to IQS and learn about science and speak with our professors. As part of the schedule, IQS held three different scientific activities between 16 and 18 November:
- Colder than Ice: demonstrations with liquid nitrogen, by Dr Carles Colomines, Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science with the IQS School of Engineering and Head of the Surfaces Laboratory.
- The Magic of Chemistry, by Dr Santi Nonell, Professor of Analytical and Applied Chemistry.
- Developing a Vaccine to Prevent the Covid-19 Infection: Daily Work in a Biomedical Research Laboratory, by Dr Cristina Fornaguera, Professor and Researcher with the Materials Engineering Group (GEMAT).
Science Week is coordinated by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation and is supported by the Government of Catalonia's Department of Economy and Knowledge and features collaboration from more than a hundred institutions and entities that make up the Catalan Research and Innovation System, including Ramon Llull University (URL).
We look forward to seeing you next year!
