On 1 July, Engineers Day, an institutional gathering of the Catalonia Association of Industrial Engineers, was held both online and on-site at the Sant Pau Modernist Campus.
The event was chaired by the President of the Government of Catalonia and featured participation by Dr Salvador Borros, Director of IQS, and other leaders in the sector. The Catalonia Association of Industrial Engineers’ mission "Leading technological evolution to advance the world and people" was presented, which focuses on recognizing the role that engineers have played during the coronavirus healthcare crisis.
Various awards and scholarships were handed out during the event. IQS graduate student Josep Font Moré was among the winners as he received a scholarship for his doctoral thesis thanks to the Caixa d'Enginyers Foundation. Josep will do his doctoral thesis at IQS, where he has completed his bachelor's and master's degrees, with IQS School of Engineering professor Dr Marco Antonio Pérez as his supervisor.
Finally, the Catalonia Association of Engineers recognized master's students with the “Creative Youth” award, which aims to reward the final phase of engineering studies, specifically, the best Final Master's Projects. Among all the engineering schools with award-winning students in Catalonia, IQS students Guillermo Reyes and Ricard Lado received this award. The winners will take a trip to visit a leading European engineering facility. Guillermo and Ricard will also do their doctoral thesis at IQS with Dr Marco Antonio Pérez.
