IQS launches the 2nd edition of the “Dream it, STEM it” competition, starting on 1 March

Following the resounding success in participation of its first edition, IQS is launching the 2nd edition of the Dream it, STEM it video competition, an initiative aimed at fostering scientific and technological vocations among young women in Upper Secondary Education (Bachillerato), Vocational Training programs, and 4th year of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) within the Spanish education system, as well as equivalent courses in international education systems, such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) and other qualifications offered by international schools (both in Spain and abroad). The competition will officially open for entries on March 1.

The initiative maintains the spirit with which it was created in 2025: to inspire, highlight and empower future scientists, engineers and technologists by inviting them to imagine how STEM can transform the world. In its first edition, the competition received a massive number of submissions from both students and schools, establishing itself as an effective tool for fostering young talent in STEM fields.

Participants must submit a video explaining how science, technology, engineering or mathematics can become solutions to future challenges. IQS emphasises that the aim is to stimulate creativity, while also recognising the work of schools and teachers who nurture these interests. Among last year’s winners were innovative projects such as a plastic‑eating plant, microalgae‑based vaccines and the development of new sustainable fuels—reflecting the vast potential of young female talent.

Prizes that support academic development

As in the first edition, Dream it, STEM it once again offers high‑impact academic prizes, open to both national and international participants:

  • 1st prize: 75% scholarship for the first year of an undergraduate degree at IQS (Industrial Technologies Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Biotechnology), free registration for the IQS Summer Camp, and a €500 FNAC voucher.
  • 2nd and 3rd prize: 50% scholarship for the first year, free registration for the IQS Summer Camp, and a €300 FNAC voucher.
  • Public Award: Prize for the most‑voted video, consisting of a €300 FNAC voucher.
  • Schools: The school submitting the highest number of videos will receive €1,500 in educational equipment; the second and third will receive €1,000 each.

IQS’s commitment to fostering female STEM talent

Dream it, STEM it is part of the STEM4Her initiative, the IQS programme designed to promote equal opportunities and highlight the contributions of young women in traditionally male‑dominated fields. The institution reaffirms its commitment to a more diverse, innovative and sustainable future driven by science and technology.
