IQS Launches a Pioneering Master's Degree in Circular Economy with a Comprehensive Approach between Science and Business

Within a global context in which sustainability has become an inescapable priority, IQS is launching the new Master’s Degree in Circular Economy, an innovative programme that responds to the growing need to prepare professionals who are capable of transforming the current economic model into a more regenerative and efficient one in terms of optimized management of raw materials and reducing waste, key elements for transitioning towards a more circular economy.

According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), 95% of companies confirm that they will incorporate Circular Economy principles in their strategies over the next three years, reflecting an unstoppable global trend towards more sustainable and regenerative models. Within this context, IQS’s commitment to sustainability is clearly manifested in its educational offering through the creation of this new one-year official Master’s Degree in Circular Economy (60 ECTS), taught in English on the IQS campus in Barcelona. The programme is designed to provide comprehensive education that combines the fields of engineering, management, innovation, and sustainability. It is aimed at graduates and professionals with prior education in engineering, science, economics, or other related areas who wish to specialize in one of the fields with the greatest projection in the areas of business and the environment.

This master’s degree stands out for its unique and multidisciplinary nature as it integrates scientific and technological knowledge in a balanced manner alongside solid preparation in business management. The programme is run jointly between the IQS School of Management and the IQS School of Engineering, two faculties that are combining their experience and academic excellence to offer education focused on the real challenges facing the global market. The programme is taught entirely in English, which reinforces its international scope and makes it an attractive proposition for students from different countries.

The Master’s Degree in Circular Economy goes beyond the theoretical foundations of sustainability. In addition, the programme offers an in-depth understanding of the principles that underpin the circular economy. Furthermore, it is decidedly focused on a hands-on approach through innovative methodologies and the use of cutting-edge technology. Participants not only learn to identify opportunities for improvements in processes and products, but also acquire the necessary tools to implement real solutions in different industrial and corporate sectors.

This combination of theory and hands-on work is reinforced by active participation in collaborative projects with companies, access to specialized laboratories and advanced technology, and applied training in key areas such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), circular energy, digitization, sustainable finance, and designing sustainability-oriented business models.

Clear labour market orientation

One of the great added values of the programme is its clear labour market orientation. The skills that participants acquire throughout the programme respond to a professional profile that is increasingly in demand by companies, consultancies, governmental entities, and non-profit organizations. At a time when environmental regulation is intensifying, and where consumers increasingly value the ecological commitment of brands, having experts who are capable of leading circular strategies and sustainable transformation processes is an indisputable competitive advantage.

IQS, a higher education institution with more than 100 years of history that is widely recognized for its strong commitment to ethics, innovation, and sustainable development, is once again demonstrating its ability to anticipate emerging trends and prepare leaders who are ready to tackle future challenges through this master’s degree.
