On 17 February, from 6:00 pm, IQS will host the HOPE! BCN video forum, an initiative combining outreach, reflection, and collective action regarding today’s major environmental and social challenges. The gathering, organised jointly by the IQS-URL Chair in Tourism, Sustainability, and Innovation (TSI) and the HOPE! Barcelona for Regeneration movement, centres on the screening of the first episode of the docuseries HOPE! There is still time. It will also mark the launch of the seventh HOPE! BCN working group, focused on Sustainable and Regenerative Tourism.
IQS hosts the HOPE! BCN video forum, driving the birth of a new working group on regenerative tourism

For IQS, this event reinforces the institution’s commitment to education, research, and knowledge transfer aimed at transforming the tourism model, aligned with the principles of sustainability, regeneration, and shared value.
HOPE! There is still time: a hopeful look at the climate crisis
The session will be structured around the screening of Episode 1 of the docuseries HOPE! There is still time, titled “The Great Opportunity”. The series, created and presented by environmental communicator Javier Peña, proposes a shift in perspective regarding the climate crisis: understanding it not merely as a threat, but as a historic opportunity to transform our economic, social, and productive systems.
Inspired by Project Drawdown, championed by scientist Paul Hawken, the docuseries showcases real, measurable solutions already in motion to reduce carbon emissions and regenerate the planet, while simultaneously improving people’s quality of life. Across its six episodes, the narrative blends scientific rigour, case studies, and international testimonies, supported by an emissions simulator that quantifies the impact of each strategy.
Barcelona for Regeneration: community, awareness, and local action
The video forum is part of the initiative driven by #Bcn per la Regeneració, a citizen community born precisely from the emotional and transformative impact of the HOPE! docuseries. Following initial collective screenings and debates, the group grew into an active network of over 250 members, organised into different thematic working groups addressing regeneration from multiple angles.
Currently, HOPE! BCN has groups dedicated to Green Bcn, Regenerative Collserola, Blue Economy, Education and Communication, Hope Currency, and Circular Economy. They are now joined by the new Sustainable and Regenerative Tourism group, which will hold its official kick-off event at IQS.
The Chair in Responsible Tourism and Hospitality-URL: the academic engine of the meeting
Hosting the event at IQS is done in collaboration with the Chair in Responsible Tourism and Hospitality-URL, promoted by the IQS School of Management. The Chair’s mission is to drive research, knowledge transfer, and awareness regarding responsible, accessible, and sustainable tourism, working closely with industry companies and public administrations.
During the meeting, the Chair’s approach and lines of work will be presented, highlighting the university’s role as an active agent in transforming the tourism model—extending beyond the academic sphere to connect with social and territorial initiatives oriented towards regeneration.
Regenerative tourism: rethinking the sector’s impact
The event will also feature participation from entities and professionals providing practical experiences in regenerative tourism, including the Catalan Tourist Board and Anna Alaman, founder of Open Eyes Project, an initiative promoting transformative tourism with a positive impact on local communities.
Through these testimonies, the discussion will explore how tourism can evolve towards models that do not just minimise negative impacts, but actively contribute to improving ecosystems, strengthening the social fabric, and generating economic value in a balanced way.
A space for dialogue and networking with impact
The event programme will combine the episode screening, institutional presentations, an open dialogue with attendees, and a networking session sponsored by Rizomahub, designed as a meeting point for citizens, academia, professionals, and entities committed to regeneration.
This format seeks to foster connections between people and projects, ensuring that inspiration translates into concrete actions and the consolidation of the new regenerative tourism working group under the HOPE! BCN umbrella.
By hosting this video forum, IQS reaffirms its commitment to impact-oriented education, aligned with global challenges and connected to the local territory. The active participation of the TSI Chair and the collaboration with movements like HOPE! Barcelona for Regeneration reflect the institution’s desire to contribute actively to the transition towards fairer, more sustainable, and regenerative models, especially in a strategic sector like tourism.
