IQS and Blanquerna celebrate World Pharmacists Day to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the URL Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy

World Pharmacists Day 2025 is being celebrated this year within a context marked by major global health challenges: the increase in chronic diseases, the aging of the population, the emergence of new epidemics, the shortage of essential medicines, and the urgent need to promote the rational use of drugs and more accessible and sustainable health care. Faced with this scenario, pharmacists are essential professionals not only in terms of providing medicine, but also concerning prevention, research, public health, and personalized patient support.

This year’s celebration has taken on a special significance for Ramon Llull University as the URL Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Since its creation, this pioneering degree (the result of the collaboration between IQS and the Blanquerna Faculty of Health Sciences) has become a benchmark in preparing future pharmacy professionals. The programme combines scientific and technological excellence with a solid calling for care and a human touch, responding to the sector’s current needs.

Throughout the past decade, this degree has solidified a unique academic offering: more than 1,000 hours of hands-on training in state-of-the-art laboratories, internships in community and hospital pharmacies, experiences in the pharmaceutical and food industries, as well as the application of innovative methodologies such as ACOE (Structured Objective Clinical Evaluation) tests. In addition, students and alumni have earned distinction with various recognitions, including the Awards for the best Final Degree Project from the Barcelona Association of Pharmacists, as well as other awards for research and innovation.

The prestige that the degree has achieved is also reflected in university rankings. In 2024, the URL Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy ranked 6th place among Spanish universities (out of 20 national universities) and 3rd place among private universities (out of 8 private universities) based on the highest number of high-performance indicators (15 out of 44) in the CYD Rankings.
