The Victory family has returned this mineral collection to IQS, comprising 23 high-quality pieces, which has been catalogued with the help of the mineral company Kucera to be on permanent display, along with other items from Dr Victory, in a glass case at the entry to the IQS Library.
Many of you reading this article may recall Dr Pedro Victory Arnal SJ (1928-1994), a professor of Organic Chemistry at IQS, and his incredible mineral collection that was a great source of pride for him. As one of his doctoral students, I remember spending countless afternoons in his office. When the light was just right, he stopped what we were doing to comment on a piece or enjoy the brilliant shine of one of his minerals. When Dr Victory passed away in 1994, his family removed the collection from his office.
The Victory family has recently returned this mineral collection, comprising 23 high-quality pieces, to IQS. The collection has been catalogued with the help of Kucera so it can be on permanent display, along with other items owned by Dr Victory, in a glass case at the entry to the IQS Library.
