What do you like most about your job?
Dr Francesc Martori, Professor and Researcher with the IQS Department of Mathematics and Data Analytics

The questions. We’re lucky to be in a place where interesting questions are regularly posed. Some come from students who make you rethink everything, while others arise in the midst of research, teaching a class, or even in the cafeteria talking with a colleague.
What would you like to spend more time doing?
Too many things: spending time with my children, my partner, friends, family, and more. I enjoy cooking, playing guitar, playing chess, hiking in the mountains, reading, and taking care of plants. There isn’t time for much else.
What are you proudest of?
Not losing hope. I believe that the work we do has meaning and that we can do useful things for people and for the world.
What value do you appreciate most in people?
Service. Making oneself available to others with humility and helping to solve problems.
Where’s a place you’d like to visit?
A large table in a courtyard in the mountains. Eating, drinking, friends, family, noise, laughter, music…
What’s a dream you’d like to pursue?
I’d like to do the Carros de Foc trail. When I was eight years old, we spent the night in a cabin and we met a couple who had done the trail. It fascinated me. A few years ago I tried to do it, but we had to quit because someone in the group got sick.
What do you have left to learn?
Everything, and that’s the way I like it!😊
