On 20 December, Pau Vidal, S.J. and representative of the Apostolic Platform of the Jesuits of Catalonia, announced the appointment of Dr Vicenç Pedret Clemente as the new President of the IQS Board of Trustees, one of the Society of Jesus’ university centres and one of the founding members of Ramon Llull University. The appointment of Dr Pedret by the Society of Jesus comes at a time of consolidation for IQS, with the firm aim of continuing to strengthen its excellence in the fields of both teaching and research.
Appointment of the new president of the IQS Foundation Board of Trustees: Vicenç Pedret
Dr Vicenç Pedret, a chemical engineer and IQS graduate, has an excellent track record that includes an MBA from IESE and advanced studies in philosophy, culminating in a master’s degree and a doctorate from the University of Barcelona. This multidisciplinary background, combined with continuing education in Ignatian spirituality, strengthens his profile so he can continue to contribute both in the scientific and humanistic fields.
With more than eleven years as a member of the IQS Board of Trustees, Pedret has formed part of the team that has supervised the strategic development of the institution. In addition to his work at IQS, he is President of the Ramon Clemente Group, a family business founded in 1931 in El Masnou dedicated to manufacturing high-quality glass containers for the fragrances and cosmetics sectors.
Pedret also chairs the executive committee of the Montserrat Mountain Board of Trustees and forms part of the board of directors of PIMEC, an association that represents small and medium-sized Catalan companies. These responsibilities show his deep roots in Catalonia’s business and cultural network.
Vicenç Pedret is taking the reins from Enric Puig, S.J., who has led the IQS Board of Trustees for the last fourteen years through guidance that stands out for his strategic vision and the design of the future lines of the institution, with a special emphasis on the school’s identity and mission. Puig has been recognized for an exceptional career that includes positions as director general of Youth of the Government of Catalonia, secretary general of the Archbishopric of Barcelona, and secretary general of the Christian School of Catalonia Foundation.
During his tenure, Enric Puig strengthened the links between IQS and educational and business institutions, creating a solid foundation on which Vicenç Pedret will be able to build. His contributions have been key in positioning IQS as a centre of academic excellence and a leader in the university world.
The new president and the members of the Board of Trustees, in collaboration with Dr Salvador Borrós, Director of IQS, are prepared to face new challenges in a context of growing academic and technological demands. The main objective will be to consolidate the impact of the university in the educational and business fields, staying at the forefront of innovation and preparing highly qualified professionals.
