The 7th HOPE! BCN Video Forum held at IQS has marked a milestone for the community dedicated to transforming tourism. With over 100 attendees, the gathering not only broke participation records but culminated in the birth of the new Sustainable and Regenerative Tourism Working Group. This initiative is driven by HOPE! Barcelona for Regeneration with the active participation of the IQS-URL Chair in Tourism, Sustainability, and Innovation (TSI), following through on the previous announcement that the event would serve as the starting point for the movement’s seventh working group.
A New Sustainable and Regenerative Tourism Working Group is Born, Launched at the 7th HOPE! BCN Video Forum at IQS

Jointly organized by the IQS-URL TSI Chair and HOPE! BCN, the video forum was part of an initiative that combines outreach, reflection, and collective action regarding today’s major environmental and social challenges. The session included a screening of Chapter 1 of the docuseries HOPE! Estamos a tiempo (HOPE! We are in time), created by environmental communicator Javier Peña, which proposes a constructive approach to the climate crisis and presents real, measurable solutions to regenerate the planet.
Following the screening, a round table dedicated to regenerative tourism took place featuring Dr. Daniela Freund (IQS-URL TSI Chair), Toni Mascaró (Rizoma), Anna Alaman (Open Eyes Project), and Cristina Bajet and Laila Vivas (Regenera4MED – Catalan Tourist Board). The speakers presented ongoing initiatives in Barcelona and the Mediterranean that seek to restore ecosystems, strengthen communities, and generate shared well-being from a regenerative perspective.
A New Group to Drive Regenerative Tourism
The new Sustainable and Regenerative Tourism Working Group, officially announced as the seventh thematic group of the HOPE! Barcelona for Regeneration movement, was established with three fundamental objectives:
- To promote and scale regenerative tourism projects in Catalonia and the Mediterranean.
- To provide visibility to best practices, real-life cases, and positive impact models.
- To create a stable space for collaboration between academia, the public sector, businesses, entrepreneurs, and the local community.
This approach aligns with the principles of the European project Regenera4MED, presented during the forum, which promotes tourism models capable of reversing negative impacts and generating positive value for Mediterranean territories.
IQS Reinforces its Commitment to Transforming the Tourism Model
During her presentation, Dr. Daniela Freund highlighted the work of the TSI Chair, which focuses on research, training, and knowledge transfer in areas such as sustainable and regenerative tourism, inclusion and accessibility, values-based organizational psychology, social entrepreneurship, and the adoption of AI in tourism contexts.
The event reinforced IQS’s commitment to transforming the tourism model toward practices based on sustainability, regeneration, and shared value, as previously outlined in institutional communications leading up to the event.
