CRISOL – Chemical Reactions for Innovative Solutions

2021 SGR 00520

Coordinator

CRISOL is a powerful team capable of offering innovative chemical tools that make it real solutions to the challenges of Molecular Science, a discipline that is at the heart of key activities for Society, such as Medicinal and Process Chemistry, or Materials Science.

To carry out this task, the design of new reagents based on disruptive paradigms of chemical bond formation through the use of catalysts, light or electricity are combined. The potential of CRISOL is based on the great experience of its founding doctors and the capacity of its young team. The horizons of the CRISOL group also extend towards the fine-tuning of sustainable processes thanks to the incorporation of doctors with an industrial background and research on continuous flow chemistry.
The team is widely recognized and maintains a series of international and national collaborations, in addition to a regular contractual relationship with companies in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical sector.

In this environment, CRISOL carries out its R&D and technology transfer activities in the following areas:

  • Modern chemical methodology for application in various sectors (chemistry, pharma, medicine, molecular biology, agrochemical industry, …)
  • Synthesis of isotopic labeling precursors (nuclear medicine)
  • New optoelectronic materials doped with boron and nitrogen (next generation of organic materials)
  • Efficient chemical processes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): catalysis, continuous flow chemistry, photoreactions…
