Innovative biomaterials to regenerate cartilage and treat osteoarthritis.
The overall aim of this project is to combine a cartilage-mimicking biomaterial with nanoparticle enabled gene therapy to promote simultaneous osteoarthritis treatment and new cartilage production.
The objectives of the project are:1. Cartilage Replacement: Develop injectable and biocompatible materials that mimic thecompression forces of cartilage.2. Cartilage Regeneration: Study the effects of biomaterials on cartilage production.3. Osteoarthritis treatment: Combine the biomaterial with nanoparticle-delivered gene therapy to treat inflammation.
