Industrial Engineering
Introduction
The Department of Industrial Engineering was created in 2002. Since its beginnings, it has opted for a clear identity in the field of engineering and for creating synergies with other IQS areas. The laboratories of Mechanics, Resistance of materials, Characterization of materials, Electrotechnics, Electronics and electrical machines, Design Assisted by Computer, Control and automatic and the SEAT laboratory (donation of the SEAT company) complete equipment that allows to provide the studies with a high practical content at the same time that allows developing R+D+i activities. The Department has always maintained a relation with other counterpart departments and international relations with prestigious foreign universities.
Teaching
The Department of Industrial Engineering deals with teaching of the Undergraduate Program in Industrial Engineering, that is recognized by the accreditation system as an undergraduate program of the new European Higher Education Area. Several lecturers of the department participate in or manage postgraduate programs including Master’s Degrees.
Research
The main lines of research are:
- New manufacturing technologies (Additive Manufacturing)
- Life cycle management of products and processes
- Energy efficiency and energy market
- Sustainability in the field of engineering activity
The Industrial Products Engineering Group (GEPI) is part of the Department of Industrial Engineering. This group is recognized by the accreditation system of the public administration (SGR 2014).
