IQS has recently created the Dr Lluís Comellas Grants. These grants are intended for research professors who want to promote their research at prestigious international universities, as explained by Dr Salvador Borrós, Director of IQS, during the presentation of the grants which featured Dr Lluís Comellas himself.
IQS has recently created the Dr Lluís Comellas Grants. These grants are intended for research professors who want to promote their research at prestigious international universities, as explained by Dr Salvador Borrós, Director of IQS, during the presentation of the grants which featured Dr Lluís Comellas himself.
Interested research professors must submit a project to apply for financial support to subsidize their research at a university outside of Spain. The goal is to enhance the training and research of IQS professors.
A former professor and dean of the IQS School of Engineering, and the former Vice Rector of Research and Innovation at the URL, “Dr Lluís Comellas represents the spirit of these grants: he accepted the challenge of leading the Dean’s Office, placing a special focus on the faculty, and at URL he promoted research throughout the university,” Dr Borrós highlighted in the presentation ceremony.
In addition to thanking IQS for the honour of placing his name on a grant like this, Dr Lluís Comellas also summarized his professional and academic experience, recognizing collaborators, colleagues, and previous directors at IQS. As dean, “I experienced IQS’s transformation towards offering more diverse degrees while still remaining faithful to our roots and our traditional way of doing things."
The former dean also stressed the importance of having international experience to learn, understand, and recognize other ways of doing research and gaining knowledge: “I personally would like to thank the current university administration for continuing to promote and encourage international experiences and mobility, which has always been a spirit shared with the entire Ramon Llull University community.”
The Rector of the URL, Dr Josep Antoni Rom, closed the event stating “Dr Comellas is a living grant. Whether as a professor, researcher, or director, throughout his career, Dr Comellas has offered all the people who have collaborated with him opportunities to grow. This grant is closely aligned with what Dr Lluís Comellas represents at IQS and the URL.”
As the URL Ombudsman, Dr Comellas currently oversees the rights and freedoms of the student body, professors, research teams, and administrative and service professionals when faced with the actions of the various university bodies and services within the framework of the Ramon Llull University Statutes.
