29 September marks the launch date of the first edition of the Postgraduate Course in Environmental Ethics, taught jointly by IQS and the Borja Institute of Bioethics (IBB), which will last for five months and hold classes on Friday afternoons.

With the objective of including the environmental perspective in addressing the challenges of the 21st century, "the programme is aimed at businesspeople with a high sensitivity for ethics and tackling environmental challenges, both from the point of view of direct management and the operations and management of human teams," says Jaume Duran, a collaborating professor at the Borja Institute of Bioethics.

Both schools form part of Ramon Llull University and are committed to this applied ethics programme as an interprofessional discipline that offers tools to address the environmental challenges the 21st century faces through reflection and dialogue while providing answers to the ethical challenges posed by professional work.

"The programme addresses the challenges that our society will face such as the energy crisis, the climate emergency, and the scarcity of water and resources, as well as the conflicts that may arise from these limitations," says Dr Oriol Pou, professor and coordinator of the postgraduate course at IQS.

The postgraduate course faculty members from both IQS and the IBB are experts in the fields of engineering, scientific development, the environment, and ethics.

Participants will learn to detect and address the ethical problems associated with environmental management, acquire knowledge about the philosophical and anthropological foundations in ethics, and discover and understand how to apply aspects related to environmental ethics.

Managed through the IQS Executive Education Department, the programme is taught in a blended mode, combining face-to-face, synchronous, and asynchronous sessions on an online platform.
