Environmental Laboratory

People in charge

Laboratory specialised in the analysis of dioxins and other persistent organic pollutants in environmental matrices (atmospheric emissions and immissions, water, ash, waste, soil, etc.) as well as in products for human and animal food.
Accredited by ENAC according to UNE EN ISO 17025.
Equipment and technologies
Analytical techniques for the determination of dioxins and other persistent organic pollutants:
- Analysis of environmental matrices: atmospheric emissions and immissions, water, leachate, waste, ash and biome, among others:
- Dioxins and furans (PCDD/F)
- Polychlorinated biphenyls (DL-PCB and NDL-PCB)
- Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH)
- Cyanotoxins (microcystins, anatoxins, etc.)
- Analysis of human and animal food products, including meat, fish, oils, eggs, milk, vegetables and mineral additives, among others:
- Dioxins and furans (PCDD/F)
- Polychlorinated biphenyls (DL-PCB and NDL-PCB)
Xevo TQ-XS (Waters). In 2025, the IQS Environmental Laboratory has incorporated a state-of-the-art triple quadrupole mass spectrometer, the Waters Xevo TQ-XS, into its analytical capabilities. With exceptional sensitivity and cutting-edge technology, this instrument enables ultra-trace level quantification of various contaminants across a broad range of environmental matrices. Its optimized design allows for high-speed scanning without compromising resolution, ensuring consistent mass accuracy and precision in every analysis. Additionally, the Xevo TQ-XS seamlessly integrates with liquid chromatography (LC) for the analysis of polar contaminants and gas chromatography (GC) for the detection of non-polar and volatile contaminants, providing a versatile and high-performance analytical solution.
