IQS Tech Factory has once again participated at 4YFN, the MWC satellite event dedicated to entrepreneurship and startups, with four outstanding business projects that feature sustainability as the central axis of their business plans. Moreover, the majority of them are led by IQS Alumni.
Specifically, the startups included:
Worldcoo, which develops and implements different fundraising channels to help NGOs find the economic resources they need to boost their social and cooperative projects around the world. Since its creation, the company has funded more than 700 projects thanks to over 55 million donations.
CircleHome, which features a platform that makes it possible to travel without paying for accommodation through swapping homes, offers highly sustainable and affordable trips.
16 Times, which analyses air quality inside buildings and provides customized solutions to improve people's health.
BioStone, which develops high value-added commercial solutions for the protection, recovery, and regeneration of marine biodiversity through bio-structures made using sustainable materials.
With a focus on innovation as the sum of science and business, IQS Tech Factory goes beyond launching new entrepreneurial projects and seeks to inspire and offer support to the entire IQS community.
With this in mind, publicizing relevant startups, providing innovative solutions through disruptive ideas, offering solutions to real problems, providing training, offering internships in startups within the IQS environment, consulting on business idea validation, and accelerating projects are just some of the main actions carried out by IQS Tech Factory.
IQS Tech Factory highly valued the latest edition of 4YFN: “It was the best post-pandemic event we have experienced. There was a great desire for normalcy and it seems that people really embraced it. We were especially pleased with the large influx of visitors and inquiries that we received along with our startups. New projects and partnerships are already being crafted. It was a really busy four days,” stated Roser Grau, Manager of IQS Tech Factory.
Entrepreneurship, in IQS's DNA
The creation of new companies has been a constant among the IQS students since the school was founded in 1910. IQS has helped launch more than 350 companies, with 1.8 companies being the average per entrepreneur, and some have also created up to seven companies (Carles Ferrer Salat, for example). A small yet significant number of entrepreneurs have even started businesses before graduating.
The study IQS conducted recently that highlights all this data also indicates that less and less time now passes between a student graduating and creating their first company. About 40% of the initiatives launched in the 21st century were created between the year of the entrepreneur's graduation and the following five years, with an average time that was reduced from twelve to ten years. The size of the companies has also grown recently, with 46% of them employing more than 50 people and an average of 15 per business. The average profit per company is 2.3 million euros.
