The new laboratories in the Department of Analytical and Applied Chemistry at IQS, the increase in funding for research projects, and the promotion of the Neuromarketing Laboratory are just a few of the most exciting activities of the past year.
The IQS Annual Report for academic year 2022-23 was recently published, including the new corporate image and showcasing the most outstanding activities and the main indicators in the fields of teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and a wide variety of student support services.
The letter from the president of the IQS Foundation, Enric Puig Jofra SJ, and letter from the director of IQS, Dr Salvador Borrós Gómez, highlight not only the current reality at IQS, but also our surrounding environment and our positioning for the future ahead.
As to research and technology transfer activities, academic year 2022-23 was marked, among others, by three elements that I would like to highlight here:
The renovation of the Department of Analytical and Applied Chemistry laboratories.
The increase in funding for competitive research projects.
The launching of the Neuromarketing Laboratory.
First of all, the initiation of the construction to adapt the spaces of some of the research laboratories in the Department of Analytical and Applied Chemistry was a great challenge in terms of organization, coordination, collaboration, and patience above all. The relocation of the equipment with the involvement and effort of everyone involved led us to be able to continue working with minimal impact on our own research and business services activities. Now we can see the end, and it is extremely satisfying! We’d love for you to come visit us.
The second issue worth highlighting is the increase in income we have received in funding from public bodies and private foundations for research projects thanks to the efforts by faculty and research teams applying for competitive projects. Following the upward trend of recent years, which has stood at around a sustained increase of 10% per year, in academic year 2022-23 there has been an increase of close to 50% compared to 2021-22. This involves a lot of work beforehand and great excitement! We are pleased to celebrate our successes and at the same time delve into doing high-level scientific research that characterizes us with even more commitment.
Finally, we should applaud the launch of the Neuromarketing Laboratory and the push in using it for research projects (such as the VALUENFT project we are presenting in this Newsletter) as well as for the establishment of collaboration with companies and other entities to define a new line in providing services to industry. In this case as well we must thank all the people who have been involved.
These are just some of the events that took place over the past academic year which we wanted to share with you. With the same enthusiasm that we have experienced, we hope you can see it as a “symbol of the permanent adaptation that IQS has shown,” as Dr Borrós says in his letter in the IQS Annual Report for academic year 2022-23.
