On Monday, 14 September, the 2020-2021 academic year began at IQS for undergraduate students. The university rolled out a protocol to ensure 100% on-campus attendance in the classrooms for first-year undergraduate and master's students. In addition, the university will teach all laboratory and workshop sessions on campus.
The measures that have been established include the mandatory use of face masks on campus, social distancing of at least 1.5 metres, safety screens in areas where personal attention is provided, the use of hand sanitizer, and capacity management in the library, cafeteria, and all other spaces.
IQS has invested in technological equipment in the classrooms, including cameras and software, so international students who have not yet been able to travel to Barcelona or students who need to quarantine can take their classes from home.
Inside the classrooms, students are given assigned spots, safeguarding distancing between themselves and their professors. According to the established protocols, students and professors must wear a face mask whenever they are present on campus.
Moreover, IQS has called on all students who present symptoms that are compatible with COVID-19 to be responsible and stay home.
IQS is committed to keeping university activities going through flexibility
By doing so, IQS will maintain the usual programming that offers the same laboratory work and the same in-person dedication in the classrooms as previous academic years, thus ensuring the same level of quality.
IQS remains committed to the primarily hands-on, in-person education and personalized attention for which it is well known. To make this a reality, the presence of students in the classrooms has been made more flexible by organizing smaller groups.
Some of the on-site activities at IQS that stand out most are laboratory work, seminars, workshops, and other innovative learning activities built upon teamwork. University initiatives that branch out beyond classroom education will also continue apace, including activities such as coursework internships, volunteer engagement, sports, and company visits, all of which contribute to student educational experiences continuing to be fulfilling and enriching.
