Jordi Ficapal, professor and director of the Tourism, Sustainability, and Innovation Department at IQS, has been named an expert on the Barcelona City and Tourism Council (CTiC).
Through the CTiC, citizen, business, trade union, and political representatives, among others, contribute ideas to improve the growth of tourism in Barcelona, currently halted by the pandemic.
With the objective of assisting in the reactivation of the tourism sector by educating future professionals in the industry, IQS awards "Tourism Reactivation" grants to students studying the Undergraduate Programme in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Ranked the second best Bachelor's Degree in Tourism in Spain according to the QS World University Ranking by Subjects 2021, the programme combines education in business administration and management with developing skills related to tourism and hospitality.
IQS educational offerings in the area of hospitality also include the Master's Degree in Hospitality Management and the Master's Degree in Event Organization and Business Tourism. Taught through IQS Executive Education, these programmes offer top-tier specialized training for professionals who want to strengthen their career in the sector.
With the addition of IQS expert Jordi Ficapal, the CTiC is initiating its second term in operation to provide continuity to the work done in areas such as mobility, labour conditions, and addressing the challenges of the post-COVID world. In office until 2026, the members of the council aim to discuss the creation of new hubs for attracting tourism, culture, heritage and the urban landscape, commerce and dining, new business models and the collaborative economy, and promoting and positioning the city of Barcelona, among other topics.
