Under the title "The new science curriculum, new challenges," the third edition of the conference is providing tools for all compulsory secondary school and baccalaureate secondary school teachers in order to improve student motivation and the quality of their learning through hands-on activities, innovative experiences, and workshops related to the different areas of the new science curriculum.
The opening lecture, entitled "The challenges posed by the new science curriculum, new challenges," was led by professors Digna Couso and Anna Marbà from the Mathematics and Experimental Sciences Teaching Department at the UAB.
Held as parallel sessions, workshops include the following themes: "Shall we change? Role-playing games in baccalaureate secondary school," "Nanotechnology in the classroom. NanoKit, NanoEduca, and other practical resources," "MicroMón@UAB. Researching new antibiotics," "Metals: crystals, magnetism, stoichiometry, and colours due to interference. From copper to titanium," "Unpacking the landscape: an interactive resource for teaching geosciences," and "Ideas and experiments for teaching chemistry in the classroom."
To wrap up this informational event, the closing roundtable focuses on education in Andorra and the successes and difficulties of the methodological changes they introduced 10 years ago. The most relevant novelties entailed leaving behind the teaching units and basing teaching on learning systems, as well as introducing new technologies.
