The 11th Aristos Campus Mundus Awards for Social Responsibility have awarded second prize in the Good Practices in University Social Commitment category to the work “Training courses for Arrels Foundation workers and volunteers,” by Dr Oriol Quintana, a member of IQS Identity and Mission and the Department of Ethics and Christian Thought.

The 11th Aristos Campus Mundus Awards for Social Responsibility have awarded second prize in the Good Practices in University Social Commitment category to the work "Training courses for Arrels Foundation workers and volunteers," by Dr Oriol Quintana, a member of IQS Identity and Mission and the Department of Ethics and Christian Thought.

IQS offers two training courses for Arrels Foundation staff and volunteers, which has been dedicated to caring for the homeless for decades. The first course addresses the experience of homelessness, that is, the experience of people who are homeless through literary, sociological, and philosophical texts from the twentieth century. The second course focuses on motivations for working with homeless people from philosophical, spiritual, and citizen vantage points.

"These courses are an excellent IQS tool for knowledge transfer, comparable to the work that our university does with all types of companies. They are also reproducible at other universities as they allow us to bring certain cultural tradition elements to their maximum applicability in social work," said Dr Quintana. He concluded by saying that this training "makes university research and reflection work reach all sectors of society directly."
