Executive Education Collaborates with Abertis to Promote Sustainability in Purchasing

IQS Executive Education has recently collaborated with Abertis to organize the Purchasing Sustainability Conference which was held during the Abertis Purchasing Convention in Barcelona. The event brought together purchasing managers from various countries, including Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and the United States, to address relevant issues and emerging trends in the field of sustainability.

Amadeo Adell, Senior Procurement Executive, and Jordi Civit, Interim Manager, Purchasing Management mentor, and coordinator of the Executive Education Master’s Degree in Purchasing, were the speakers at the conference. Key topics included Introduction to Sustainability, Sustainability in Purchasing, Alignment of the Company’s Sustainability Strategy with Purchasing, and a Workshop for participants.

Not only did the event provide a conceptual framework on sustainability, underlining its importance and long-term benefits for both companies and the environment, it also addressed specific sustainable practices in the field of purchasing. These practices include selecting responsible suppliers and reducing environmental impacts along the supply chain.

Likewise, a discussion was held on how to effectively integrate corporate sustainability strategies into purchasing decisions to ensure coherence and commitment at the organizational level.

Finally, the attendees were divided into teams to identify concrete actions that purchasing departments can adopt to achieve their company’s sustainability objectives in upcoming years. This interactive workshop allowed participants to share ideas and develop specific action plans.

The conference concluded with the identification of a series of key actions to be taken for each of the four purchasing categories covered, deemed crucial to improve purchasing sustainability for Abertis in the coming months.
