Last Saturday, the Chemical Institute of Sarriá Alumni Association (AIQS) held the "100 years of the AIQS" event to commemorate and celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of its founding with its members and IQS students and faculty.

The event, which was held in a virtual format due to the COVID-19 restrictions in place, was led by the television newscaster and presenter Iván Medina, along with participation from Salvador Borrós, the Director of IQS, Jordi Martí Gascón, the AIQS President, and Roger Prat, the AIQS Communications Director.

During the event, in which several IQS professors participated, including Dr Jordi Abellà, Dr Pere Palacín, Dr Cristina Fornaguera, Dr Carlos Moslares, and Dr Carles Malet, among others, a brief look at the history of the AIQS was presented and the winners of the “Pare Salvador Gil” awards were also announced. The event highlighted "IQS Alumni Life Afternoons", a new cycle of conferences that the AIQS will launch starting in February which are open to both AIQS members and IQS students and Alumni who are interested.

One of the event's most exciting moments happened with the virtual congratulations extended to the AIQS by notable individuals such as Pedro Duque, the Spanish Minister of Science and Innovation, Enric Puig, President of IQS, Josep Maria Garell, Rector of the URL, Jordi Teixidó, Vice-rector of the URL, Carlos Losada, President of UNIJES, and Dr Vicente Han-Sun Chiang, President of the Fu Jen Catholic University, among other people from the world of science, innovation, and education.

One unknown detail remained: we weren't yet able to discover the gift that IQS will give the association for its centennial, so we'll have to wait until 23 March to find out!

In total, over 1,000 people followed the event via the YouTube and Instagram platforms. The event was truly a success!
