Could you briefly describe the master’s degree?
The Master’s Degree in Analytical Chemistry is a source of knowledge concentrated in one year, allowing you to learn about many different areas of Analytical Chemistry. It is intense and very dynamic.
Why did you decide to study it?
When I finished my bachelor’s degree at IQS, I decided to study this master’s degree because of the subjects I had studied throughout my undergraduate years such as environmental chemistry, instrumental analysis, and quality management. Another factor that influenced me was the hours spent in the laboratory and all the instruments with which you can learn and work.
What would you highlight about the programme?
I would like to highlight the work environment and small groups, which allow greater individual attention for students and, in my opinion, also allow students to interact with the faculty in a closer way. In my case, it has also made it possible for me to work with some of the latest instruments, for example the UHPLC-QTOF, in my Master Thesis.
What subjects did you like the most?
First of all, the subject that I liked the most was the laboratory due to the organization and the diversity of instruments we used throughout the year. Two other subjects that stand out are quality management and environmental chemistry.
Why did you choose IQS?
The main reason why I chose the master’s degree at IQS, apart from already knowing how things work since I did my undergraduate studies here, was because of the faculty. I think it’s important to highlight the role of the professors and their excellent interactions with students. I also chose IQS due to the institution’s prestige and the master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry.
What do you think the master’s degree has brought you personally and professionally?
It has allowed me to enhance many aspects, such as organization and teamwork. I would also like to highlight the satisfaction of having achieved the objectives of the master’s degree. All this has allowed me to improve my level of confidence in myself and learn to appreciate all the knowledge I acquired throughout the degree.
What advice would you give to a future student who wants to study this master’s degree?
As it is a really intense and condensed master’s degree, I believe that organization and daily work are key to being able to fully take advantage of this master’s degree. This master’s degree offers multiple visions of Analytical Chemistry, from quality and food to environment and more.
What career prospects do you have, short and long term?
I really hope to be able to join the workforce in areas related to quality at the end of my Master Thesis. This facet of Analytical Chemistry is required in many industries and companies. In the long term, I hope to be able to grow professionally and personally by applying the knowledge I have acquired.
