1. What you like most about your job?
An environment where innovation and shared learning allow you to evolve professionally and personally on the path of science. Additionally, the effort and resilience of my colleagues help inspire my motivation to develop cutting-edge projects like OBGate, a new “gate to the brain.”
2. What would you like to spend more time on?
Traveling. Getting to know different cultures and traditions always enriches us.
3. What are you most proud of?
On the path of science, the most important thing is the people who are part of it. Thus, I feel proud when I remember the colors of every moment gifted to me by the great people and scientists I have shared a laboratory with and to whom I hope I have given that same feeling.
4. The value you most appreciate in people…
The ability to be flexible; good science requires proactivity accompanied by the ability to adapt to the adverse circumstances that any project naturally presents.
5. A place to get lost…
Calatayud, the capital of a former fourth province of Aragon, the cradle of Mudéjar art, and home to monumental Arab castles. It’s a place where the warmth of the locals always leaves you with the best memories. It also happens to be my hometown.
6. A dream you would like to pursue …
Until 2007, it was to visit the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World (or where they theoretically stood). Since then, it is to also visit the 7 Wonders of the Modern World.
7. What do you still have to learn?
As the great Albert Einstein said, I have “everything” left to learn. I believe the work of a researcher involves an infinite curiosity to come to understand even a tiny fraction of human knowledge and thought.
